TREASURE HUNTING: The Assistance League of Newport Mesa is making a double-barreled attempt to bring in business to help their children’s charities. On Tuesday it opened both a thrift shop and what it calls Treasures on Consignment--same building, different entrances--at 2220 Fairview Road in Costa Mesa. . . . The thrift shop is a step or two up from a fancy yard sale. The consignment shop, however, is filled with jewelry, antiques, silver cut glass, and other home accessories. Its most expensive item: a $7,400 antique armoire.
