Coach: Bim Barry (fourth year).
1991: 2-3, third place in league; reached CIF Southern Section finals, placing fourth in Division III-A, seventh overall in Division III, missing a State-meet berth by three places.
Key returners: Jared Overton, Sr., has personal-best of 15 minutes 25 seconds for three miles, league champion in 3,200 in track; Sky Peterka, Sr., right behind Overton in league final last year; Matt Eimers, Sr., personal-best of 16:14; Trent Bryson, Jr., has run 16:22.
Key newcomers: Dylan Guggenmos, Sr., returning after a year’s absence, has best of 1:57.6 for 800 meters; Shahram Dezahd, So., alternate on team at CIF but has never run varsity; Chris Cicoletti, Sr., has run 16:42 for three miles.
Outlook: The Sailors will have to contend with tough Sea View teams such as Saddleback, Santa Margarita and Corona del Mar but get a big boost with the return of Guggenmos, the team’s No. 1 runner as a sophomore. Guggenmos, Overton and Peterka are coming off strong track seasons. The team’s goals: top two in league, top five in county, qualifying for State.
