Coach: Dave White (18th year).
1991: 4-1 in league, second place; reached CIF Southern Section finals, placing third in Division II-A.
Key returners: Greg DeClark, Sr., All-Century League, 19th in Division II final; Blake Schumacher, Jr., all-league; Jeremy Mordock, So., all-county as freshman; Phil Sitner, Jr., has best of 16:52; Eddie Alvaso, Jr., among top seven last season; Gil Tafoya, Jr., a hard worker; Josh Rencher, Jr., up-and-coming prospect.
Key newcomers: Bryan Hennessey, Sr., ran 17:10 for three miles on junior varsity last season.
Outlook: Villa Park, along with Orange and Canyon, should contend for the Century League championship. “It looks like it will be a balanced league,” White said. “We are hoping to go all the way to CIF finals and we want to qualify for State.” White says his team might be slightly weaker than last season’s: No. 4 runner Rob Fisher graduated and Rich Petersen and Sam Isaacs, who were among the top five, elected not to participate in cross-country this season.
