LOS ANGELES : Council OKs Measure on Buying Recycled Goods
- Share via
A measure to promote the purchase of recycled goods by Los Angeles won approval from the City Council on Friday, but without a key component that would have allowed the city to buy the goods even if they cost 10% more than non-recycled goods.
The council directed city departments to seek out recycled goods when possible and to eliminate bid specifications that favor the purchase of new goods.
But the call for a 10% “bid preference” for recycled products was sent back to committee for more study.
