Paris’ Rap: “Sleeping With the Enemy,” the album by Oakland rapper Paris that was rejected by Warner Music because of a song and cover art depicting an attempted assassination of President Bush, was released Monday by the rapper’s own Scarface label. The album, which includes the song “Bush Killa” and an inside-cover illustration of the armed rapper lying in wait for Bush, will be issued through a network of independent distributors, with no ties to Warner Music or its parent company, Time Warner. Paris, though, remains signed to the Time Warner-owned Tommy Boy label, which gave the album back to the artist for independent release.
