Women in LAPD
Regarding your article on the reshaping of the top command of the Los Angeles Police Department (Nov. 12):
It disappoints me to see that there was no mention of a female being promoted to a position of power in the LAPD. In the Police Academy, male and female officers are treated as equals and must meet the same requirements. On the streets, male and female officers face the same risks. My question is: Does this new restructuring of the LAPD break the “rigid, pyramid-like hierarchy” for women of all races as it has for men of all races?
