Carson 27, Jefferson 7--Led by a solid defense, the Colts (8-3-1) limited the Democrats (7-4-1) to 17 yards in a 4-A game at Gardena High.
Carson’s defense turned two pass interceptions into touchdowns. The first was a 10-yard return by Chris Vaimili in the first quarter, the other a 68-yard return by Pa’a Pepe in the fourth quarter to make the score 27-7.
Jefferson scored its only touchdown late in the first half on 26-yard pass from Marcus Johnson to Melvin Wilson, pulling the Democrats within 14-7.
Robert Johnson led the Colts with 63 yards in seven carries, including a six-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
