It is hard to imagine “Masterpiece Theatre” without its host (“Wanted: One Masterful Host,” Nov. 28). The familiar Alistair Cooke, sitting in one of those storytelling chairs, goes along with the story he is about to introduce.
I feel as though a favorite uncle isn’t stopping by anymore on Sunday evenings to share a friendly story about a famous book or play. His words were able to capture your imagination and keep you interested till the last sentence.
