Elite Schools Might Be No Different From Rest

The Dec. 21 article “Go East, Young Men” talked about many good things, particularly getting kids out of the streets and giving them a better life. However, I was very disturbed by one thing in the article. How is it that Barry Harper can achieve a 3.0 GPA at an Eastern prep school but can get only 660 on the SAT, a test where students receive 200 points for signing their names?
It is time to face reality. Athletes are still given grades by schools, whose motive is to get money and recognition by having good athletic teams.
