Two Views of ‘Fly Away’
“I’ll Fly Away” is just beginning its journey. With each brilliantly written and acted episode, I am further drawn into the lives of Forrest and Lilly and their growing involvement with the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. So far, their activism remains in its infant stages.
Am I and the many viewers who treasure this jewel of a drama to be denied the coming battles, the growing social conscience and Forrest and Lilly’s inevitable discovery of each other? So much still needs to be told!
NBC, move “I’ll Fly Away” to the better time slot that it deserves! If need be, have the guts, integrity and social responsibility to sacrifice one hour of ratings per week to keep this hour of artistry and brilliance on the air. After all, guts, integrity and social responsibility are what “I’ll Fly Away” is about!
