Lucille B. Powell; Elementary School Teacher

Longtime Ventura County resident Lucille B. Powell, who taught elementary grades in Santa Paula schools for more than 32 years, has died at age 80.
Powell died Saturday of natural causes, mortuary officials said.
She was retired, having taught at McKevett and Barbara Webster schools in Santa Paula. Powell was involved in several organizations, including the Ebell Club and the Santa Paula chapter of the Eastern Star.
She was a 1930 graduate of Moorpark High School and obtained her bachelor’s degree from UCLA four years later.
Survivors include daughter Janey Nichols of Thousand Oaks, sons James N. Powell of Madera, Jerry A. Powell of Paradise, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for Saturday. Arrangements are being handled by Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary in Santa Paula.
