Independent Films Cash In Abroad: Revenue for independently produced English-language films rose 7.6% last year to $1.2 billion, according to the American Film Marketing Assn. The AFMA said the increase was primarily because of a surge in the licensing of films for video, cable and broadcast television in Europe and other foreign territories. The most popular independently produced films last year included “Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” and “Basic Instinct.” Theatrical revenue, by comparison, declined last year.
