A motorcyclist, under pursuit by Ventura police Wednesday night, suffered a broken leg when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed as he was getting onto California 33.
The California Highway Patrol arrested Mark B. Humphreys, 39, of Ventura on suspicion of driving under the influence and evading arrest, a CHP spokeswoman said.
Ventura police attempted to stop Humphreys for running a red light shortly after 9 p.m. near Ventura and Stanley avenues, police said. Humphreys pulled over, but when officers stopped, he drove off. When they tried to stop him again, he pulled over but drove off again.
He was entering California 33 when he lost control of the vehicle. The motorcycle landed on top of him on the road. He was admitted to Ventura County Medical Center where his condition Thursday was listed as fair.
