BREA : Redevelopent Seat to Be Filled Today
- Share via
The City Council will meet in a special session today to appoint a replacement for Councilman Carrey J. Nelson on the Brea Redevelopment Agency.
A former member of the council is likely to be appointed to the post when the council meets at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers. Earlier this week, the council had decided to appoint someone already familiar with agency matters.
Wayne D. Wedin and Gene Leyton, both former mayors, have been identified as likely appointees to serve the remaining two years of Nelson’s term on the Redevelopment Agency.
Nelson, whose term expires in 1994, will keep his seat on the council. He will participate in today’s selection. He resigned on Jan. 7 to avoid what he calls the appearance of a conflict of interest because he owns three properties within 300 to 2,500 feet of the downtown redevelopment project.
