LOTS OF KNOTS: This month’s Sailing magazine lists the “100 Greatest Sailing Yachts in North America” and among them: Orange Coast College’s Alaska Eagle. The 65-foot racing vessel, docked in Newport Bay, has been used by the college to train students in sailing since 1982. . . . The college’s marine director, Brad Avery, says the Alaska Eagle has sailed more than 400,000 miles, since students often cross the Pacific in it. The boat’s next stops: Mexico in March and Hawaii in June.
