CBOT to Take Over COMEX: In a move to join the leading New York and Chicago futures exchanges, the Chicago Board of Trade and Commodity Exchange Inc. said the exchanges plan to merge most operations. Under the proposal, CBOT, the world’s largest and oldest futures market, will take over the troubled Commodity Exchange Inc., best known for its metals contracts. The merger may take six to 12 months to complete, CBOT said.
