Man Found Dead Outside Apartment

SANTA ANA — A 30-year-old man was shot and killed outside his apartment here early Thursday, police said.
A neighbor found Albert Lujan Galindo lying in a pool of blood in the grass near their row of apartments on East Pine Street about 5:30 a.m., police said. The pop of gunfire had awakened some neighbors shortly before.
Homicide detectives did not know who shot Galindo, an employee at UCI Medical Center in Orange, or why, said Sgt. Art Echternacht. Police, who scoured the area outside Galindo’s small apartment early Thursday, said they have found no witnesses to the shooting.
“He was a good neighbor,” said Isabel Beltran, 73, Galindo’s landlord for the past two years. “I wish I had more like him. . . . If he had any problems we didn’t know about them.”
Ramiro Garcia, whose wife discovered the body, said Galindo “was very serious, very quiet. This is very weird.”
