* * 1/2 Soundgarden, “Motorvision,” A&M; Video ($14.95). Slow-motion stage-writhing; frenzied, sweaty fans; documentary snippets; lead singer Chris Cornell’s well-defined torso and powerful voice--despite these ingredients, Soundgarden’s hourlong video is disappointingly unrevealing. Performances of songs from the quartet’s heavy and hypnotic “Badmotorfinger” album--shot at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre--are visually affecting, especially “Jesus Christ Pose.” But the black-and-white documentary footage of the band and Seattle scenesters, while peppered with dry humor, sheds little light on what makes Soundgarden tick.
