EAGLES EYE: The Eagles will fly again. . . . No, not the group itself, which has been unable to work out a long-anticipated reunion--but the ‘70s California band’s songs are set to take new flight at the hands of top country artists.

Pop Eye hears that former Eagles Don Henley and Glenn Frey are overseeing an album expected to feature Travis Tritt, Trisha Yearwood, Clint Black, Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Carlene Carter and John Anderson, among others, each performing his or her favorite Eagles song. The album will benefit Henley’s Walden Pond Fund and likely will be released by Giant Records, whose chairman, Irving Azoff, managed the Eagles in the group’s heyday. Henley, who is suing to terminate his contract with Geffen Records, will not perform on or produce any of the tracks.
