GORMAN — A woman was killed and a Frazier Park man critically injured in a head-on collision several miles east of Gorman. The accident occurred when the woman’s car crossed over the double yellow lines into opposing traffic on California 138 and struck a van, authorities said Saturday.
The woman, who had not yet been identified, was traveling west at approximately 60 m.p.h. at 10:40 p.m. Friday, California Highway Patrol Officer Frank Schulz said. Her white Hyundai veered over into the single eastbound lane and crashed into an orange van driven by Ronald Frey, 47.
“Apparently the driver of the Hyundai had been weaving for quite some time, a couple miles,” Schulz said.
The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while Frey was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center, where on Saturday he was listed in critical but stable condition after surgery.
