Irvine, El Toro Fall in State Lacrosse

MISSION VIEJO — Poway, the three-time defending champion, and Oakland Bishop O’Dowd each defeated Orange County lacrosse teams Saturday to advance to the State high school final today at Trabuco Hills High School.
Poway (16-1) got six goals and an assist from Lee Weech in a 12-3 victory over Irvine. Tim Fernstrom had two goals and two assists for Bishop O’Dowd (13-0), which beat El Toro, 13-7. Adam Miner had two goals and two assists for El Toro.
The title game is at 2:30 p.m. at Trabuco Hills. El Toro and Irvine will play for third place at noon.
