Raiders Get Conditional Draft Pick From Falcons in Dickerson Trade

SUWANEE, Ga. —  The Atlanta Falcons said Wednesday they have acquired running back Eric Dickerson, the second-leading rusher in NFL history, in a trade with the Raiders.

Ken Herock, vice president of player personnel for the Falcons, said the Raiders agreed to take a conditional sixth-round pick in the 1994 draft to complete the deal. The draft pick reportedly becomes a fifth-rounder if Dickerson rushes for at least 1,000 yards.

Dickerson, who must pass a physical, is expected to meet with the Falcons Monday.

“This whole change to Atlanta and an offense I like . . . it’s had me feeling like a young colt again,” Dickerson said.

Dickerson, 32, and the Falcons agreed last week on a contract reportedly loaded with incentives because of his age. He has rushed for 13,168 yards in his career.
