Pasadena City Prosecutor Tracy Webb filed vehicular manslaughter charges Wednesday against a Mission Hills man who allegedly hit and killed scientist Edward C. Posner last month.
Charles Henry Conrad, 65, was driving his pickup truck in Pasadena when he hit Posner, on a bicycle, at the intersection of Walnut Avenue and Corson Street on June 15, Webb said.
The prosecutor said Conrad was turning left onto Corson and failed to yield the right of way to Posner.
Posner, 59, of Pasadena was a Jet Propulsion Laboratory engineer who pioneered the development of spacecraft communications technology.
The case will be heard July 29 in Pasadena Municipal Court.
