Countywide : Man, 18, Arrested in Armed Carjacking
An 18-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of stealing a car at knifepoint, police said.
About 12:35 a.m., Peter Albert Baltazar of Buena Park allegedly threatened a teen-age girl with a knife in the parking lot of Albertson’s Food Center on Yorba Linda Boulevard here, Sgt. John Strash said.
Baltazar then reportedly took her 1989 Camaro and left her uninjured, police said. The victim’s name was not released because of her age.
The Camaro was seen shortly after that westbound on the Riverside Freeway near Weir Canyon Road. Brea Police Officer Jason Forgash stopped Baltazar and took him into custody without incident.
Baltazar was being held at the Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. Officials expect to charge him with armed robbery, attempted kidnaping and grand theft auto, Strash said.
