TORRANCE : Suspect in Slaying Turns Himself In
- Share via
Torrance police Wednesday arrested a Huntington Beach man in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old Orange County woman whose body was found in a dumpster last month behind an upscale Pacific Coast Highway shopping center.
James J. Giglio, 51, surrendered at the Torrance police station and was booked on suspicion of murder, police said.
Torrance detectives did not say how they linked Giglio to the slaying of Mary Theresa Chilelli, whose body was found Sept. 11 behind the Madison Park shopping center.
Investigators traced Giglio to Rhode Island, and authorities there informed Giglio’s relatives that he was a suspect in the strangulation of Chilelli.
Giglio then returned to California and turned himself in shortly before noon.
He is being held without bail.
