4 County Parks to Close 3 Days a Week

Reduced attendance has prompted several Ventura County parks to close three days a week until the spring.
Soule Park in Ojai, Steckel Park in Santa Paula, College Park in Oxnard, and Camarillo Grove Park in Camarillo, will be closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until March 1.
The limited schedule began this month after county officials determined that the parks were rarely used on weekdays during the winter. About 400,000 people use the parks each year, but most people visit during the summer and on weekends, Ventura County Recreation Services officials said.
The grounds, which include miles of trails, group picnic areas and equestrian arenas, are staffed with rangers and maintenance personnel when they are open.
Groups will be able to use the parks when they are closed by making a reservation in advance. The number is 654-3951.
