Borden’s Chairman Quits in Shake-Up: Anthony S. D’Amato abruptly quit and was replaced by an outside member of the board in an apparent shake-up of the food manufacturer’s management. D’Amato was replaced by Frank J. Tasco, 66, the retired head of the insurance company Marsh & McLennan Cos. D’Amato, who was also Borden’s chief executive, was replaced in that position by Ervin R. Shames, 53, the former head of Stride Rite Corp. who became Borden’s president and chief operating officer last summer. D’Amato, 63, had been Borden’s chief executive since November, 1991, and chairman since March, 1992.
