ROUNDUP : Campbell Hall Reaches La Canada Semifinals

Simeon Woodall scored 20 points and Harold Sylvester added 15 to help Campbell Hall High overwhelm its Canadian opponent, A.L. Fortune, 76-47, Friday in the quarterfinals of the La Canada tournament.

Campbell Hall (7-1) advanced to a semifinal against San Fernando at 6:30 p.m. today.

Center Alex Lopez added 11 points and five of Campbell Hall’s 26 assists.

Cleveland 53, Gardena 38--Louis Fernandez had team-high totals of 17 points and 10 rebounds for Cleveland (4-3) in the first-round game of the Pacific Open tournament at Washington High.

L.A. Baptist 73, Pasadena Poly 59--Jeff Baumsteiger had 24 points and eight assists to lead the host Knights (7-1) to their fifth consecutive victory.

University 36, Kennedy 34--Dante Jones scored 10 points and Trivonne Scott added nine, but Kennedy (4-5) was unable to overcome an 11-point first half in the third-place game of the Hamilton tournament.

Camp Kilpatrick 46, Holy Martyrs 45--Narhon Luke’s free throw with 12 seconds remaining was the difference for Camp Kilpatrick (2-3) in a nonleague game at Holy Martyrs.

Canyon 72, Burbank 56--Greg Minor had 24 points and Charles Woodard added 23 for Canyon (7-3, 2-0) in a Foothill League game at Burbank. Brad Warner led Burbank (1-4, 0-2) with 16 points.

Saugus 73, Burroughs 44--Mike Williams came off the bench to score 14 points to lead a balanced attack for host Saugus (5-4, 1-1) in a Foothill League game.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Poly 50, Grant 32--Dora Lopez scored a game-high 24 points for Poly (3-3, 1-0) in the Valley Pac-8 Conference opener.
