CAMARILLO : Unisys to Lay Off 110, Close Division

Unisys Corp. has announced it is laying off 110 employees who work in the company’s Camarillo facility developing computer software and is shifting the division’s 15 other employees to San Jose.
The outgoing employees were given 60-day notices Wednesday in a consolidation move that will effectively close the company’s Distributed Systems Division in Camarillo, said spokesman Joe Barrett.
About 250 employees who also work in Camarillo in the company’s Government Systems Group were not effected by the layoffs and transfers. “That’s a separate group; that’s not being touched,” Barrett said.
The move is part of an overall downsizing of the defense contractor’s Camarillo plant that has been occurring over the past five years.
“The whole company is undergoing a transformation, as is the whole industry,” Barrett said.
