Weekend TV : ABC Celebrates Its 40 Years With Star-Hosted Highlights

Past and present network stars appear on “ABC’s 40th Anniversary Special,” a retrospective tonight at 9 on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42 that includes highlights from family comedies (hosted by Henry Winkler); police and private-eye series (Cybill Shepherd); daytime shows (Susan Lucci); “Monday Night Football” (Craig T. Nelson and Jerry Van Dyke); TV movies (Judith Light); miniseries (Peter Strauss) and live events (Dick Clark).
On Sunday, Vice President Al Gore discusses the White House’s foreign policy on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” 9 a.m. (2); 9:30 a.m. (8). Gore will also speak on “National Student Town Meeting” at 11 a.m. on cable’s C-SPAN.
Several public affairs shows will look at the life of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
