Parenting : Making the Adjustment
While most children easily adapt to glasses, eye-care professionals recommend that parents take several steps to smooth the transition:
* Develop a positive outlook yourself. Children will not feel good about wearing glasses if parents seem worried or depressed about it.
* For the cutest and most colorful styles--and the best fit for the tiniest tots--find an optician who specializes in children.
* Allow older children to take their time choosing a frame style, and check out the selection in several stores if necessary. Adolescents should feel their glasses are stylish and flattering.
* Don’t get frustrated or impatient if your child does not adapt to wearing glasses right away. Youngsters may need a few days to adjust.
