NEW YORK — For U.S. firms wondering how to keep workers happy, a study offers this advice: Let them wear jeans.
The nationwide survey of white-collar workers found that 81% agree that allowing casual dress improves morale and 47% believe it improves productivity.
Almost all respondents, 96%, said they dress casually when they can. Eighty-four percent said jeans were acceptable in their offices. Asked if a casual dress policy could influence their decision in accepting a job offer, 46% said it would.
The source of this wisdom? A telephone survey of 750 employees, commissioned by Levi Strauss & Co.
