It was a long day for pitchers Saturday.
Van Nuys East scored 18 runs in the second inning, then took the rest of the day off in an 18-1 victory over Burbank North in a District 20 game.
Not to be outdone, Woodland Hills West scored 16 runs in the second inning of a game against Granada Hills West. West settled for a 16-5 victory before coming back to win, 16-10, in the second game of a doubleheader.
Even North Hollywood (2-15) got into the act, trouncing Van Nuys South, 24-6, in the second game of a doubleheader after South won the opener, 14-4.
In other District 20 games:
Sun Valley 2-6, Sunland-Tujunga 1-1--Sam Viscarra drove in the winning run in the sixth inning of the opener.
Burbank South 2, Verdugo Hills 1--Eli Albertson doubled home Anthony Fabrizio with the winning run in the sixth.
Las Virgenes 9-4, Granada Hills East 3-2--Solid pitching by Brandon Cohen and Tanner Trosper gave Las Virgenes a sweep.
Valley North 13-0, Encino 3-2--Chris Hebert pitched a five-hit shutout and Encino (13-3) salvaged a split. Valley North (11-6) scored 10 runs in the first inning of the opener.
