The filing period opened Monday for city council, school district and special district candidates in the Nov. 8 general election. Candidacy papers must be filed by Aug. 12. City council elections will be held in 28 of Orange County’s 31 cities (Dana Point, Seal Beach and Tustin held council elections earlier this year). There will also be elections in four community college districts, three high school districts, 10 unified school districts and 13 elementary school districts. Special district elections will be held for directors and trustees of community services, water, sanitary, irrigation, parks and recreation, and library districts. Cities holding council and mayoral elections in November:
Anaheim: mayor, two council
Brea: three council
Buena Park: three council
Costa Mesa: two council
Cypress: three council
Fountain Valley: three council
