NORWALK-LA MIRADA : School Board Ordered to Hold an Election
- Share via
Only a month after the Norwalk-La Mirada school board appointed a new member, the district has been ordered to hold an election Nov. 8.
School board member David H. Cosper’s appointment was terminated last week after the Los Angeles County registrar’s office determined that 719 valid signatures are on petitions calling for an election. Only 694 were needed.
Cosper, 43, replaced former school board member Jesse M. Luera, who was elected to the Norwalk City Council in April. Cosper had been in office for little more than a month when he stepped down.
He said he would not relinquish his seat without a fight. On Monday he was the first person to file his candidacy for the school board. Candidates have until Aug. 12 to file election documents.
