Man Given 50-Year Sentence for Rape
SANTA ANA — A 22-year-old man, convicted of raping an Orange County woman while her five children watched, has been sentenced to prison for 50 years.
Jose Francisco Hernandez, an El Salvador citizen living in La Habra, will be at least 47 before he is eligible for parole. Prosecutor Dan McNerney described the crime as “the most vile, disgusting sequence one could possibly imagine.”
Orange County Superior Court Judge Jean Rheinheimer suggested during the sentencing Friday that the Department of Corrections consider deporting Hernandez to El Salvador after his parole.
Hernandez was convicted in May of entering a room where the woman slept with her children, pulling a knife and saying to her in Spanish that if she screamed, he would kill her and her children. He then raped the mother while the three sons and two daughters--ages 8, 7, 5, 2 and two months--watched, McNerney said.
