WASHINGTON — The Senate Thursday night began a delayed summer recess until Sept. 12. The recess, which had been scheduled to start Aug. 12, came after final passage of President Clinton’s crime bill.
Members of the House of Representatives, who unofficially began their recess last Sunday while awaiting Senate action, will be on vacation until Sept. 8.
The start of the congressional recess means that the President and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton can begin their summer vacation on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts.
