Mine Kills Cuban Fleeing Guantanamo Camp

HAVANA — A Cuban, one of the thousands being held at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, was killed when he tried to cross a minefield to re-enter Cuba, Cuban authorities said Sunday.
An armed forces statement said that during Saturday’s incident Cuban frontier guards rescued three others from the minefield that separates the base from Cuban territory. The statement said 27 Cubans have left the camp and returned to Cuba this month.
