Woman Who Baked Cat in Oven Gets Jail Term
OAKLAND — A woman who got back at her boyfriend by baking his cat in the oven has been sentenced to 60 days in jail.
Lisa Marie Lillard of Hayward put the cat in the oven, turned the oven on and then set the kitchen on fire March 26 because she thought her boyfriend had been cheating on her, she told police.
The animal “suffered . . . both mental and physical torture by the manner of which it was killed,” the doctor who performed the autopsy said.
Lillard, who told police she was not sorry for her actions, pleaded no contest Wednesday to an animal cruelty count.
She said she had stopped taking medicine for schizophrenia several months before the killing.
