COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : OCC Holds On in Final Minute for 71-69 Victory
Damion Morbly scored 17 points and had 23 rebounds as visiting Orange Coast beat San Diego Mesa, 71-69, in a nonconference men’s basketball game Wednesday.
Tyrone Ellis (10 points) had two key jump shots in the final minute as OCC hung on to its lead. Steve Singleton added 19 points for OCC (2-0).
In other nonconference men’s basketball:
Cerritos 91, Golden West 69--Michael Dean had 18 points and Dejuan Matthews added 15 points and six assists for visiting Golden West (0-2).
In nonconference women’s basketball:
Orange Coast 89, San Bernardino Valley 35--America Robledo scored 18 points and had 12 rebounds and Jamie Shine had 16 points and 14 rebounds for host OCC (3-1). Kathleen Kelly added 12 points and Tina Afan had 10 for the Pirates, who led, 41-18, at the half.
Rancho Santiago 66, Palomar 43--Cari Remmel had 21 points and 11 rebounds for host Rancho Santiago (2-1).
Cypress 77, El Camino 36--Sara Works scored 36 points and had 10 rebounds for visiting Cypress (2-1).
Golden West 75, Citrus 43--Julie Murdent had 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Rustlers (3-1). Teammate Deana Itow added 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Citrus is 1-1.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s volleyball:
Golden West 3, Fullerton 0--Vanessa Dahl had 12 kills in Golden West’s 15-9, 15-8, 15-2 victory. The Rustlers remain undefeated in conference at 18-2, 11-0.
