An assistant professor of English literature at Loyola Marymount University has been awarded a $5,000 grant to study Irish writers.

John Menaghan, who is also writing a contemporary novel on the political troubles in Ireland, will begin his studies abroad next summer.

Menaghan’s research, titled “Internal Exiles: Writers and the Catholic Community in Northern Ireland,” will examine the difficulties that Catholic Northern Irish writers have faced.
