Mission Viejo : Saddleback to Offer Ocean Skills Classes

Sailing, navigation and SCUBA classes are being offered this spring at Saddleback College.
A 16-week sailing class that starts Jan. 20 will offer experienced sailors a chance to work on ocean sailing skills and supervising a crew. Students will also plan and carry out cruises to Santa Catalina Island and the Channel Islands.
A celestial navigation class beginning Jan. 18 will help students develop practical skills, plus learn how to use a sextant and chronometer to chart waters by the stars and sky.
The SCUBA class starts April 11.
At the end of the six-week course, students should have the skills to participate in open water dives necessary for certification.
