MISSION VIEJO : Students Do Reporting on Saddleback Radio
Students from Bathgate Elementary School are getting a chance to go on the air as news reporters at KSBR-FM, the jazz-themed radio station of Saddleback College.
On Friday, students broadcast the first of their scheduled weekly 60-second spots during a noon segment called “Kid’s View.”
The short news features will cover such topics as classrooms, parks and museums. The students act as reporters and write their own stories.
The students have been broadcasting at their own school over the public address system to an audience of 650. But at KSBR-FM, the students can reach more than 25,000 listeners.
The program is the first partnership between the college and Bathgate Elementary School, which is also known as the Creative and Visual Arts Academy.
The program was organized by KSBR-FM News Director Dawn Kamber and Bathgate Elementary School Principal Curt Visca.
