FDA Gives OK for Syphilis, Ovarian Cancer Detection Tests: Centocor Inc. said it has received Food and Drug Administration approval to market the new diagnostic tests. The Malvern, Pa., company said its syphilis test, Captia Syphilis-G, is cleared for use in blood banks and testing laboratories. The test can be used as a primary screening method for certain antibodies in human serum or plasma. Centocor’s CA 125 II test will be used as an aid to detect residual epithelial ovarian cancer.
