LAGUNA NIGUEL : Washout Cancels Activities at YMCA
Daily activities at the Crown Valley Community Center and the YMCA had to be canceled on Tuesday because of a washout at the entrance bridge.
Water from an usually small creek flooded over the entrance road at Crown Valley Community Park, prompting city Public Works Director Ken Montgomery to close the entrance to the park.
“Any time there’s any kind of heavy rain, that crossing gets flooded and we have to close it,” Montgomery said “It’s unfortunate, but the cost to fix it is in the half-a-million dollar range, so that’s why it hasn’t been done.”
Last Wednesday, two public works employees had to be evacuated from the park entrance after their truck got stuck in the deep water.
Park officials will evaluate the crossing again today.
