For Travel Agents, Sort of a Return Trip

Agents up in arms over the airlines’ recent decision to cap commissions on ticket sales (“Travel Agents Plan Surcharge of as Much as $15 Per Ticket,” April 5) have a short memory in addition to a short fuse.
Only since deregulation of the airline industry have travel agents received a 10% commission on all airline ticket sales. Before that, they were paid 5% on domestic and 7% on international sales.
