SIMI VALLEY : Initiative Will Be Debated at Library

The first formal Ventura County debate on the proposed California Civil Rights Initiative is scheduled today at the Simi Valley Library.

Steve Frank, county coordinator for the statewide initiative campaign, and Moorpark City Councilman Bernardo Perez will square off in the community room of the library at 7:30 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the Simi Valley Republican Assembly club.

The initiative, which would eliminate affirmative action programs for women and minorities, has yet to qualify for the ballot. Supporters are hoping to garner enough signatures to put the issue on the November, 1996, ballot.
