Wilbur G. Pike; Retired Firefighter
Former Oxnard resident Wilbur G. (Willie) Pike, who served 30 years as a firefighter with the Oxnard Fire Department, died of natural causes Thursday in his home in Idaho. He was 68.
Pike was born in St. Joseph, Mo., in 1927. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II before becoming a firefighter.
A member of the California State Firemen’s Assn. and the National Rifle Assn., Pike was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, biking and golfing.
He moved to Nampa, Idaho, about nine years ago, after he retired from the Fire Department.
Pike is survived by his wife, Frances Pike of Nampa; his mother, Louise Pike of Nampa; a sister, Judy Pokorney of Kuna, Idaho; a niece and several nephews, and an aunt, uncle and numerous relatives in Missouri.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Pierce Brothers Griffin Mortuary in Camarillo. The funeral will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Conejo Mountain Memorial Park Chapel in Camarillo.
