OXNARD : Smaller Grant for Airport Considered
- Share via
Ventura County supervisors on Tuesday will consider accepting a $756,000 federal grant for airport improvement projects, an amount far less than what the county has received in the past.
The grant money would be divided into two payments of $378,000 and be distributed over the next two years, officials said. The county has received grants of $500,000 annually from the Federal Aviation Administration in previous years.
But under the proposed budget package crafted by Congress for the new fiscal year, that amount has been reduced beginning July 1, officials said. In addition, the FAA has chosen this year to distribute the grant money over a 24-month period because of the uncertainty of funding next year.
The county would use the grant money to repave the taxiway and improve its lighting system at the Oxnard Airport, officials said.
