Sanday to Face Pate in Golf Final

Former Cal State Northridge golfer Jeff Sanday advanced to today’s 36-hole California Amateur Championship final at Pebble Beach Golf Links by defeating Bob Niger of Cool, 6 and 4, on Friday.
Sanday will face John Pate of Santa Barbara, who defeated Craig Steinberg of Van Nuys, 4 and 3, in the other semifinal.
Sanday defeated Ed Cuff of Temecula, 6 and 5, in a quarterfinal match earlier Friday.
Miscellany
Grover Porter, the defense attorney for former Cal State Northridge football player Jonathan Beauregard, has withdrawn from the case because he will be tied up with another trial until March.
Beauregard, who is charged with two counts of attempted murder, is scheduled to appear at a July 5 hearing in San Bernardino Superior Court.
The Westlake Yacht Club is offering a summer sailing program for youths ages 8-17 starting July 10. Lyle Schlyer will be director.

Rob Looyen, a Simi Valley High assistant, has been promoted to coach of the boys’ soccer team. Looyen’s hiring is subject to approval by the school board.
